Travel to Papua, Indonesia (from Jakarta) or Bali (DPS), you’ll likely fly to one of the main airports in Papua, such as Jayapura (DJJ), Biak (BIK), Manokwari (MKW), Sorong (SOQ), or Timika (TIM), and then potentially continue your journey by plane or ship to your final destination.

Although Papua can be accessed either by water or air, almost all travellers travel by air. The main gateway is Sentani Airport in Jayapura, but there are also frequent flights from some major Indonesian cities to Biak, Manokwari, Sorong and Timika. There are some direct flights to Papua from Jakarta, but for most destinations and carriers a stopover is necessary, usually in Makasar.

In the end the answer is simple: every month is equally good to visit Papua, there is no such thing as the best travel time for Papua! The climatic differences during the year are minimal, there is no distinct dry or rainy season. This applies to all regions of Papua.
